Elementary & Middle School
Everyone rows. Everyone races. Everyone belongs.
Welcome to LBRA! We invite elementary and middle school students in grades 5–8 — from any public or private school in Central Florida — to discover the exciting sport of rowing, growing their skills from their very first strokes all the way to competitive racing.
Who Can Join
Starting in 5th grade, boys and girls can begin their rowing journey with the Middle School Program, the foundation of our athlete development pathway. This program introduces young rowers to the core elements of rowing — proper stroke technique, boat handling, fitness, and teamwork — all in a fun, encouraging, and structured environment.
Training & What to Expect
Our experienced coaches introduce proper rowing technique on the machines before athletes ever reach the water. From day one we focus on conditioning and cardio to build genuine strength and endurance. While the primary focus is on building strong fundamentals that support long-term success, athletes may also experience racing as their skills progress.
Race Days
Every rower also has the chance to compete in regattas during both the Fall and Spring seasons. Race locations range from right here in Orlando to venues within a one-to-two-hour drive, turning each regatta into a memorable team adventure.
Growth Beyond the Boat
Families often see rapid growth during the middle school years as rowers gain confidence, strength, and technical skill. Athletes are supported at their own pace, learning discipline, resilience, and teamwork — skills that extend far beyond the boathouse. They become part of a close-knit, supportive community, build friendships that can last a lifetime, and enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Fairview while staying active, healthy, and energized. For many, this is where a lifelong love of rowing begins.
RFC — Required Fundraising Commitment
The RFC per season is funds needed to make the club viable and affordable. Lake Brantley Rowing will host two fundraisers each year, one in the fall and one in the spring, to help rowers meet their required fundraising commitment for each season. Exceeding the minimum RFC requirements helps our club invest in new equipment to sustain the program's overall success.
The fall will be a golf tournament where rowers can sell raffle tickets for prizes, get participants to sign up to golf, or sell sponsorships for the event. In the spring, we hold a casino night fundraiser and a novice regatta where rowers have opportunities to sell tickets and raffles.
